Gentler activity with a planned routine
Less weight on joints
Water support encourages movement without the same impact as ground exercise.
Useful at different ages
We arrange sessions for young, active, middle-aged and older dogs.
Collection is included
The £8 charge covers the session journey and associated fuel cost.
Controlled movement with less joint loading
Water supports the body while a dog moves, which can reduce the load placed on joints during exercise. Our canine water therapy option gives young, middle-aged and older dogs 20 minutes of supported activity at a canine therapy facility. It can add variety for active dogs or provide gentler movement for those who find some land-based exercise more demanding.
We don't assume that swimming suits every dog. Before arranging a session from Billingham, we ask about water confidence, previous swimming, mobility, health history and any guidance from your vet.

A clear Wednesday collection routine
We collect dogs for the Wednesday 3pm session, take them to the facility for a 20-minute swim and return at approximately 5pm to 5.30pm. The charge is £8, including the associated fuel cost. We need agreed handover arrangements so collection and return remain clear.
Please tell us how your dog travels, how they behave around water and if they have shown stiffness, discomfort or tiredness after activity. Veterinary advice remains important where a dog has an injury, medical condition or recovery plan.
Frequently asked questions
Does our dog need to be a confident swimmer?
Not necessarily, but we need an honest picture of their confidence and past experience. Tell us if your dog avoids water, becomes worried when handled or has never swum. We can then consider whether the session appears suitable before collection is agreed.
Can water exercise replace veterinary treatment?
No. We provide low-impact exercise rather than veterinary diagnosis or treatment. If your dog has pain, an injury, reduced mobility or a recovery plan, please seek veterinary guidance and share any relevant instructions before asking us to arrange a session.
What happens during the Wednesday session?
We collect for the 3pm booking, travel to the canine therapy facility and arrange a 20-minute swim. We then return dogs at around 5pm to 5.30pm. Actual handover timing can depend on travel and the day's agreed collection route.
